fun waves

The waves have been really fun the last couple days at D-head. Nothing big but atleast it was clean. It was like 2 feet solid and lining up really good! Perfect for longboarding. Today I surfed with Ned and my brother and it was really fun! Other than that I got my midterms back for 2 classes. I got an A in chemistry and a B- in physics. Its really funny that I got a better grade in chemistry rather than physics because I understand physics a lot more than chemistry. I also have a midterm on friday and bunch of online homework due on friday too. And i have to start shipping my boards to Japan. Ahh, i have so many things to do! Im glad theres no south swells coming in. Should have waves in the country starting tommorrow but it seems like the whole world is surfing in the country now days...

Tiny Waves

Im finally done with midterms for this month so I've been surfing lately but the waves have been so small. September started off with one of the biggest south swells of the summer but now it seems like summer south swells are finally over. Looks pretty flat for rest of this month. Hopefully we get some swells in october... This weekend shouldnt be smaller than the last couple days so it should be rideable in town. Country looks like there is going to be a pretty good North Swell coming in mid next week. I start midterms in like 2 weeks again so I hope the waves get good soon. Lately I've been riding a new eps board shaped by mitsu. Its not extremely light but its lighter than what I usually ride so it feels better. The board definetly has more flotation so it paddles well and the lightness makes it more responsive.

Christian surfers Contest

I had a contest a bowls this weekend. The contest was the 10th annual christian surfers contest. The waves were absolutely flat but somehow I made it to the finals for the shortboard and the standup division. I didnt do that good in the shortboard final(4th) but I ended up winning the standup paddle. My brother also won the jr men shortboard so the contest was pretty good. They had plenty of food and good music so it was really fun. Check out the picture above. THe waves are so small that I dont even need to open my eyes when Im turning. Haha.

Midterms

I got couple of midterms this week into next week so I havent been really surfing lately. The waves have been kind of junk the last couple days so I didnt bother going to the beach. Other than studying, I bought my ticket to Japan for the last 2 JPSA events in October. I wasn't going to go because I have like 4 midterms that week but, I didnt want to pass up this opportunity to go surf in Miyazaki. Luckily my teachers were pretty cool so they are going to let me take my midterms before I leave for Japan. Theres a contest this weekend at bowls but it looks like its going to be pretty small. Also the WCT event in France starts this weekend too. Watch out for Sl8ter cause he might clinch his 9th world title there...

UH game

I went to the UH game today with my school friends. The game was really good especially the 3rd quarter. In the beginning I thought we were going to lose but UH pulled through scoring 22 points in the 3rd quarter. Theres also some solid waves in town today. It was solid 5 feet on the standout spots. I surfed concessions today and it was really fun and not too crowded since there was no parking. Supposed to get waves for atleast another 3,4 days. Its good when theres swell but at the same time the waves keep me from doing my homework so its bad as well. It should be another good day of surf tommorrow.

Trampoline

We got a big trampoline at our house for my brothers birthday. It basically takes up half of our back yard! You can do backflips, frontflips and whatever you want to do. School has been really hard this semester. I havent been surfing too much lately because I've had so much homework. Today the waves were pretty good. It was like 3 feet on the sets but it was crowded like a zoo at concessions. The waves should be good all weekend! Stoked!

Back to school

After 3 months of summer break I am finally back in school and I already can't wait till winter break. I went to buy my books today but I didnt have enough money to buy all my books. My calculus and physics book costs $200 a piece! Theres no waves in town right now. Alamoana is like a lake and Diamond head is like 1 foot and barely breaking. Everytime I come home its flat. Ther might a some small swell this weekend but dont count on it.

Good waves, good food, Awesome day!

Today the waves were really fun in Shonan. It was like 1 foot in the morning but in the afternoon it was like 3 feet on the big sets (Mostly solid 2 footers). I ended up surfing 3 times today. The waves were not as good as Hawaii but it was the best waves I caught in Shonan this summer. Last night I went to eat good sushi with Mitz from Drift Surf. Tommorrow Im off to ibaragi for my contest. It looks like theres going to be some waves but its probabaly going to be really onshore. Right now its storming in Shonan. Theres lightning everywhere with super loud thunder...

Back in Shonan

After 7 hours of riding in a car I finally got back to shonan. In 7 hours i could fly back to Hawaii. The last day in Fukushima was pretty good because we got some waves. It was 2 feet and really mushy but It was the best waves so far on this trip. Right now Im at shonan but the waves are flat! Its about knee high and 100 guys out! Typical shonan... Looks like south shore has some waves. You guys better surf now because when I come back its going to be flat. Right now Im at my sponsors surf shop and just working at the cashier. We got some live radio from Hawaii running in the store so atleast theres a little bit of Hawaii here.

Whats Happening?

Everywhere I go it seems like theres no waves and everywhere I leave there is waves. I left shonan to surf better waves but all of a sudden a typhoon poped up and shonan actually has shoulder high waves. In Fukushima the waves are knee high and onshore. Supposed to get some waves tommorrow but Im not too sure yet. Hawaii should wave some waves this sunday. At night I went to eat some super good Yakiniku! It was the best yakiniku I've ever ate!

Fukushima

Left shonan at 4 am this morning and got to Fukushima around 10 am. We got there and the waves were pretty flat! It was maybe 1 foot on the sets but still ridable. Sorry I didn't take pictures. After surfing couple hours we headed toward the place we are staying. That drive also was another 1 hour. Today was a really tiring day and theres a possible small swell coming in on sunday.

Japan

After one month of staying in Hawaii I am back in Japan for 2 weeks. If you think Hawaii is hot, try coming to Japan in august. Its like 95 degrees with a relative humidity of like 70%. The worst part is the ocean is just as warm. I went to the beach to cool down but the water was like a warm bath with a lot of dirty rubbish in the water.
On the airplane I couldn`t really sleep at all because I was busy watching movies. I watched 3 movies. I watched 21, Kung FU Panda, and What Happens in Vegas. All the movies were really good! After I landed I got picked up and headed to Shonan. I ended up surfing a little in knee high waves with like 100 guys out. Right now its Obon so everybody in Japan has a week off from work so the beach is really crowded.

At Night, I went out to eat Yakiniku with Mitz,Yasu and bunch of other people. I ended up getting home at like 3am. Which is like 8am in Hawaii so I ended up staying awake for more than 24 hrs. I am really tired right now and tommorow we are waking up at 2 am to head down to Fukushima. I hope the waves are good!

Hiking

Yesterday I went hiking up Makapuu trail and Koko head with Mika. The Makapuu trail was real nice with a good breeze at the top but Kokohead was hard like always. I also surfed with my friend Weston at Publics which was pretty good except it was real windy and a lot of back wash since it was high tide.
Today I surfed at Bowls for a little while till it got crowded. It was 2 feet on the sets and it was pretty fun. In the evening I went golf with my friends from 88tees at the Ewa course. It was my first time there and the course was pretty challenging. Also the ASP Ripcurl search contest is on right now so go check it out!

Guitar Hero

I have been playing some video games lately at night. My brother borrowed a game called Guitar Hero from his friend and its really fun. Also got some fans in our living room today.
The waves today were ok. It was about 3 feet on the sets but it was super inconsistent and the wrong direction for concessions. The evening was a little bit better with the low tide and it wasn't too crowded.
